Artist walk and talk

Meeting Point: The Showroom, 63 Penfold Street at 2:30pm

End Point: The Empire Remains Shop, 91-93 Baker Street

This walk joins two exhibition projects, The Empire Remains Shop by Cooking Sections and Mafavuke’s Trial and Other Plant Stories by Uriel Orlow at The Showroom. We will walk from one to the other and on the way discover a medical plant garden reflecting different communities and their migratory backgrounds, the colonial history of some of the products sold at a street market and textile shop in the area as well as the site of the head office of the Home and Colonial Stores, which first opened in 1883.
