Elisabetta Brighi is a lecturer in the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Westminster. She holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science and has held a number of teaching and research positions at the European University Institute in Florence, the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and University College London.

Her current research focuses on the intersection of international security and political theory, spanning terrorism, urban security, new materialism, visuality, affect and mimesis. She has published five books and a number of journal articles – recent works include, The Sacred and the Political and ‘The Globalisation of Resentment – Failure, Denial and Violence in World Politics’ in Millennium.

In addition to her research, Elisabetta uses photography to investigate the shifting contours of urban space, and has been exhibited in galleries in Oxford and London. She is based in London.
