Nitasha Kaul
Dr Nitasha Kaul is an award-winning Kashmiri novelist and academic. Her writings focus on identity, democracy, creativity and political economy, with a specific focus on Kashmir and Bhutan.
Her first book was a monograph on economics and philosophy, addressing issues of political economy, neoliberalism, economic justice and economic violence. Her novel Residue, focusing on the lives of Kashmiris outside of Kashmir, is an exploration of mobility and affinity across borders of nation and faith, providing glimpses of class-stratified urban India, divided Berlin, and the complications of identity in England. The book was shortlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize.
